AquaFlanders:Explainer

Our drinking water sources have come under increasing pressure in recent years. High time to take action. But which interventions really make a difference? Various methods exist to make our water management more climate friendly. To compare these methods, AquaFlanders developed the Impact indicator. And that of course requires an explanation - or rather: a clear video.

The customer

AquaFlanders is the umbrella organization for Flemish water companies and sewer managers. Besides defending the interests of its members, AquaFlanders works towards a streamlined and modern water management. They not only want to inform Flanders, but also raise awareness about responsible water use.

The challenge

The Impact Guide takes into account a whole range of factors: from cost-effectiveness to nuisance for other water users, in both the short and long term. An extremely valuable, but at the same time complex tool. AquaFlanders was looking for a way to explain this tool in a clear and attractive way to a wide audience - without lapsing into technical jargon or technical details.

At the same time, they also wanted to communicate the broader picture: how climate change threatens our water resources, and why thoughtful action is needed more than ever. So a double challenge, with a lot of content in a limited amount of time.

Our solution

For a complex message, animation is the perfect medium. After all, you can reinforce every sentence with clear visuals that make it clear in simple lines what it's about. Instead of dry technical explanations, we show a clear story that sticks around for a long time.

We chose a welcoming, colorful style, accessible to both policymakers and interested citizens. This gives AquaFlanders a powerful communication tool to launch their Impactwijzer with the necessary impact.
