Democo: Hinder Hendrik

A construction site in your neighbourhood? That means trouble. Or at least that's what most people expect. To counteract both the disruption they cause as well as the negative expectations, Democo teamed up with communications agency Wambach to set up a campaign all about their mascot "Hinder Hendrik." And we brought this gentle giant to life with a whole series of videos. Let's take a look at our favourite video from the series.

The customer

Democo Group is a group of 7 companies with all the knowledge and expertise to develop, build, complete and maintain construction projects from start to finish. In 40 years, they grew into a well-known contender in Belgium.

The challenge

You can't do construction work without spreading some dust and mud. But Democo does a lot to keep the area around their construction sites as clean as possible. How can we convince the viewer that these efforts will make a difference? 

Because the videos in this series are meant to be shared on social media, it's extra important that they are not too long. We need to be as brief as possible, without cutting into essential content.

Our solution

We didn't start from scratch this time: the concept of the mascot Hinder Hendrik was already created. We expanded on this idea and designed a gentle giant that reassures all neighbours with a smile. 

An cheerful narrator who explains everything with crystal clarity. A cozy neighbourhood with a cute dog as the backdrop for this story. And, of course, the lovely Hinder Hendrik himself. We've gathered all of the ingredients we need to make a fun animation video that offers peace of mind.
