A lot of different types of packaging all go into the blue bag. They are made from different materials, which means they need to be processed in different ways. So how do they make that happen? We explain it step by step. This clear animation video is part of a series of videos we made for Fost Plus.
Fost Plus is the driving force behind household packaging recycling in Belgium. Every day, Fost Plus works with public and private partners to create a circular economy for household packaging, from collecting trash from citizens' homes to recycling it domestically.
The trash in your PMD bag travels a long way, encountering many high-tech machines. Step by step, every different type of packaging is taken out, until we have 14 separate material streams. Each of them ready to be recycled.
The viewer does not need to understand every detail of this sorting and recycling process. However, it should be clear how sophisticated this process is: truly something to be proud of.
If you were to work with camera images, that would result in very busy, complex scenes. After all, in sorting and recycling centers, every background is full of machines, lights, buttons, and other distracting details. Not to mention the trash itself, it's not exactly easy on the eyes ... With an animated video, on the other hand, we can emphasise the right elements, using simplified illustrations that only show the parts we need for the story.
We also don't mention the technical details that would lead us too far in the script. We focus on clear, easy-to-understand explanations that ensure every viewer can follow.
