UZ Gent: High-risk medication

For healthcare providers, the administration of medication is an everyday occurrence. But because it's easy to make a mistake, it's never taken lightly. Healthcare professionals must perform the 5-point check every time. Are we talking high-risk medication? Then there are more rules to follow.

The customer

With over 3,000 patients per day and more than 6,000 employees, UZ Gent is one of the largest and most specialised hospitals in Flanders. UZ Gent also invests in scientific research and training, as a university center.

The challenge

It is important for every viewer to know and follow proper procedure. It's a matter of life and death! So simply listing the guidelines is not enough, because what if the viewer stops paying attention halfway through? We need to get the message across in a way that will keep our target audience engaged.

Additionally, all information must be correct and complete. What exactly does the 5-point check entail? And what is the correct procedure for high-risk medication?

Our solution

Nothing 's stronger than a good story. One that's filled with relatable situations, like that one patient who continues work from his hospital bed. And of course we also include a clear overview of the 5-point check and the procedure for high-risk medication.

No preachy tone in this video, but a down-to-earth explanation with some humour here and there. Also no unnecessary details in the background, but the right emphasis in the right place. Resulting in a short, powerful video that does what it needs to do.

Behind the scenes

Script and storyboard

It's not our intention to scare the viewers. So no nightmare scenarios, but just a friendly summary of the procedure. With simple visuals to reinforce the message where necessary.

So no crazy creative concepts, or extra bells and whistles. Because for this video, less really is more.

Style Proposal

Because UZ Gent is a loyal customer, we worked out a fixed visual style for them about ten years ago. We used this style for every video we made for them, ensuring optimal recognisability. But after all these years, this style needed renewal. We made it more picturesque, and less angular. More mature and less playful. A style that can really support any message. With this, we are ready for a new chapter in our partnership.
