Eurocontrol

It's not always getting about more customers, more leads or more conversions. For this client, there is only one goal: to make air travel in Europe as safe as possible.

That's why they created SKYbrary: an online database of procedures and guidelines for safe air traffic control. It contains a wealth of information, but the sometimes endless texts are not that accessible. That is why Eurocontrol decided to highlight the most important topics with a series of clear videos.

The customer

Eurocontrol is an international organisation responsible for coordinating air traffic control in the various member states of Europe. An important part of their mission is to share their expertise when it comes to safe air traffic control. 

The challenge

There is a lot to say about each of the chosen topics. Because none of us are experts, the first hurdle is to understand all of the content. Fortunately, we can count on the help of numerous Eurocontrol experts. They answer every one of our questions and send us clarifying sketches and diagrams when needed. 

Once we understand the message itself, we need to transform it into a short video. Clarity is our priority here: we need to convey the message accurately, without getting lost in the details.

Our solution

To respond to Eurocontrol's needs, we slightly adapted our production process. So no kickoff meeting, for example, but a detailed briefing document. We also create our storyboard with full-fledged illustrations instead of sketches so that everyone involved can share detailed feedback as soon as possible. And we record our own test voiceover for the first version of the animation, leaving room for any script adjustments even at this later stage. 

Lastly, we use the same structure in every video: first we tell a relatable story that represents the topic, and then we list the key takeaways. What went wrong in the story? How can this be avoided? By ending with these key points, we make sure that the message is remembered for a long time.
